Why B Corp™ matters to Butcher of Blue
For Butcher of Blue, becoming a B Corp is more than a certification; it’s a commitment to align our business with our values. We believe in creating timeless, durable clothing that not only looks good but does good - for people and the planet. By achieving a score of 104 in the B Impact Assessment, we’ve proven our dedication to social and environmental impact, accountability, and transparency. But this isn’t the end of our journey, it’s the start of improvement.
“Becoming B Corp certified isn’t just a badge—it’s a reflection of our
values. We believe business should be a force for good, and this certification
holds us accountable to building a company that’s not just profitable, but also
responsible, inclusive, and sustainable.

What is B Corp™?
Certified B Corporations are companies verified by B Lab™ to meet high
standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and
transparency.
B Corps are committed to balancing profit with purpose, considering the impact
of their decisions on all stakeholders: workers, customers, communities, and
the planet.
This global movement is about using business as a force for good, reshaping the
economy to be more inclusive, equitable, and regenerative.
What Our B Corp Score of 104 Mean
A B Impact Assessment score above 80 qualifies for certification. Scoring
104 is a testament to our commitment to sustainable practices.
It reflects our dedication to making responsible choices across our entire
business. From sourcing organic cotton to maintaining ethical partnerships with
suppliers.
It’s a testament to the choices we make on employment; we are inclusive in the
broadest sense and proudly work together with people with barriers to
employment and refugees of war.
We give 2% back
At Butcher of Blue, we don’t just create clothing, we create products designed to last. Our mission is to make timeless, well made garments with respect for people, the environment, and the communities around us.
We believe responsible fashion starts with quality. By focusing on durable products, responsible material choices, long term supplier relationships, and conscious craftsmanship, we aim to reduce unnecessary consumption and contribute to a more responsible textile industry.
But impact goes beyond the products we make. We believe businesses should actively contribute to the communities they are part of. Through our “Strategy to Give,” we donate approximately 2% of our annual revenue in products to local and national causes. In addition, we support community initiatives through pro bono work, sponsorships, employee volunteer days, and collaborations that create positive social impact.
We also aim to create opportunities within our own workplace by supporting people with a distance to the labor market and investing in long term employee wellbeing and development.
As part of our broader sustainability efforts, we continue to work on circularity, transparency, and product longevity, including the development of digital product passport initiatives to help customers better understand the story behind their garments.
Have a great idea or initiative that aligns with our values? We’d love to connect.
Wear it, love it, repair it
At Butcher of Blue, we believe the most sustainable product is one that stays in your wardrobe for years. That’s why durability, fit, timeless design, and responsible material choices are at the heart of our product development process.
We carefully select materials based on quality, comfort, and longevity, aiming to create garments that age well and can be worn season after season. By focusing on long lasting products and responsible craftsmanship, we aim to reduce unnecessary consumption and product waste.
To further extend the lifecycle of our products, we offer Butcher’s Repair Service in partnership with De Naaierij, a skilled sewing atelier that repairs and rejuvenates your favorite Butcher of Blue garments. Because who wants to part from their favorite piece of clothing, right?

Climate Action Plan
We believe responsible fashion starts with creating products that are made to last. Through durable product design, responsible material choices, and long term supplier relationships, we aim to reduce the environmental impact of our business and contribute to a more responsible textile industry.
As part of our B Corp commitment, we support the global ambition of the Paris Agreement to help limit global warming to 1.5°C.
Our Climate Action Plan focuses on:
- increasing the use of organic and recycled materials
- durable and recyclable product design
- biodegradable packaging solutions
- responsible supply chain management
- renewable electricity usage at our Dutch office locations
- circular textile developments through our participation in Stichting UPV Textiel
We review our climate priorities regularly as part of our broader B Corp and governance commitments.
Circularity
At Butcher of Blue, we believe responsible fashion means taking responsibility for the full lifecycle of a product. Our goal is to create garments that last, using durable construction, responsible material choices, and timeless design to reduce unnecessary consumption and waste.
As part of our ongoing circularity efforts, we continue to increase the use of recycled materials where possible and develop more products made from single materials to improve future recyclability opportunities. We also participate in Stichting UPV Textiel, supporting broader industry efforts focused on textile collection, recycling, circularity, and responsible textile waste management within the Netherlands.
However, when a product is no longer your favorite, we encourage giving it a second life. If it’s still in good condition, pass it on to a new owner or sell it through pre loved channels. If the item has truly reached the end of its lifecycle, recycle it or bring it to a textile recycling destination.
If recycling isn’t an option for you, you can return the product to our warehouse and we will help ensure it is responsibly processed together with Het Leger des Heils.

participating in responsible sourcing.
Environment: Minimizing our environmental footprint
by producing durable, sustainable clothing.
Customers: Creating high-quality products that
prioritize long-term value over fleeting trends.
