A Thing Well Made
A man doesn’t need much.
He needs what works.
A jacket that has his back in a bar fight. A tee that still looks good after the night
he can’t remember.
Jeans that will outlive his mortgage.
Anything less won’t make the cut.
Once, clothing was made like that.
Made to last. Not for a season, but for life.
Sewn with hands that knew what they were doing.
Worn by people who had better things to think about.

transparency.
B Corps are committed to balancing profit with purpose, considering the impact
of their decisions on all stakeholders: workers, customers, communities, and
the planet.

What Our B Corp Score of 104 Means
A B Impact Assessment score above 80 qualifies for certification. Scoring
104 is a testament to our commitment to sustainable practices.
It reflects our dedication to making responsible choices across our entire
business. From sourcing organic cotton to maintaining ethical partnerships with
suppliers.
It’s a testament to the choices we make on employment; we are inclusive in the
broadest sense and proudly work together with people with barriers to
employment and refugees of war.
We give 2% back
At Butcher of Blue, we don’t just create clothing, we create products designed to last. Our mission is to make timeless, well made garments with respect for people, the environment, and the communities around us.
We believe responsible fashion starts with quality. By focusing on durable products, responsible material choices, long term supplier relationships, and conscious craftsmanship, we aim to reduce unnecessary consumption and contribute to a more responsible textile industry.
But impact goes beyond the products we make. We believe businesses should actively contribute to the communities they are part of. Through our “Strategy to Give,” we donate approximately 2% of our annual revenue in products to local and national causes. In addition, we support community initiatives through pro bono work, sponsorships, employee volunteer days, and collaborations that create positive social impact.
We also aim to create opportunities within our own workplace by supporting people with a distance to the labor market and investing in long term employee wellbeing and development.
As part of our broader sustainability efforts, we continue to work on circularity, transparency, and product longevity, including the development of digital product passport initiatives to help customers better understand the story behind their garments.
Have a great idea or initiative that aligns with our values? We’d love to connect.
Wear it, love it, repair it
At Butcher of Blue, we believe the most sustainable product is one that stays in your wardrobe for years. That’s why durability, fit, timeless design, and responsible material choices are at the heart of our product development process.
We carefully select materials based on quality, comfort, and longevity, aiming to create garments that age well and can be worn season after season. By focusing on long lasting products and responsible craftsmanship, we aim to reduce unnecessary consumption and product waste.
To further extend the lifecycle of our products, we offer Butcher’s Repair Service in partnership with De Naaierij, a skilled sewing atelier that repairs and rejuvenates your favorite Butcher of Blue garments. Because who wants to part from their favorite piece of clothing, right?

Climate Action Plan
We believe responsible fashion starts with creating products that are made to last. Through durable product design, responsible material choices, and long term supplier relationships, we aim to reduce the environmental impact of our business and contribute to a more responsible textile industry.
As part of our B Corp commitment, we support the global ambition of the Paris Agreement to help limit global warming to 1.5°C.
Our Climate Action Plan focuses on:
- increasing the use of organic and recycled materials
- durable and recyclable product design
- biodegradable packaging solutions
- responsible supply chain management
- renewable electricity usage at our Dutch office locations
- circular textile developments through our participation in Stichting UPV Textiel
We review our climate priorities regularly as part of our broader B Corp and governance commitments.
Circularity
At Butcher of Blue, we believe responsible fashion means taking responsibility for the full lifecycle of a product. Our goal is to create garments that last, using durable construction, responsible material choices, and timeless design to reduce unnecessary consumption and waste.
As part of our ongoing circularity efforts, we continue to increase the use of recycled materials where possible and develop more products made from single materials to improve future recyclability opportunities. We also participate in Stichting UPV Textiel, supporting broader industry efforts focused on textile collection, recycling, circularity, and responsible textile waste management within the Netherlands.
However, when a product is no longer your favorite, we encourage giving it a second life. If it’s still in good condition, pass it on to a new owner or sell it through pre loved channels. If the item has truly reached the end of its lifecycle, recycle it or bring it to a textile recycling destination.
If recycling isn’t an option for you, you can return the product to our warehouse and we will help ensure it is responsibly processed together with Het Leger des Heils.

Stakeholder Concerns & Grievance Procedure
Butcher of Blue encourages employees, suppliers, customers, partners and other stakeholders to raise concerns regarding ethical conduct, human rights, working conditions, discrimination, environmental impact or other responsible business matters connected to our operations or supply chain.
Concerns can be raised confidentially via:
This procedure may be used for concerns related to:
- Human rights and labour conditions
- Discrimination, harassment or unwanted behaviour
- Unsafe or unfair working conditions
- Supplier or supply chain conduct
- Environmental impact
- Ethical business conduct
Process and timelines
- Acknowledgement: We aim to acknowledge receipt of a concern within 7 working days.
- Initial assessment: Within 10 working days of receipt, the designated person responsible for grievances will assess whether the concern falls within the scope of this procedure, determine its urgency and identify the appropriate next steps.
- Review and investigation: We aim to complete the review within 30 working days of receipt. Where additional time is needed due to the complexity of the matter, we will inform the complainant of the delay and provide an expected timeframe for completion.
- Resolution: Depending on the nature and severity of the concern, the matter may be addressed through internal review, discussion with the parties involved, an agreed corrective action or, where appropriate, support from an independent or external party.
- Outcome: Where it is safe and appropriate to do so, the complainant will be informed of the outcome and any relevant next steps. If a concern falls outside the scope of this procedure, this will be communicated accordingly.
Concerns involving serious allegations, potential human rights violations or an immediate risk to someone's safety will be escalated promptly to the appropriate level of management.
Confidentiality and protection against retaliation
Butcher of Blue aims to protect the confidentiality of everyone raising a concern and to handle all reports fairly and sensitively.
- The identity of the complainant will only be shared with people who need the information to assess, investigate or resolve the concern, and only to the extent necessary.
- Where information needs to be shared, we will inform the complainant in advance where appropriate and safe to do so. We will seek consent where feasible, while recognising that certain matters may require action without consent to meet legal obligations or address serious risks.
- Concerns can be raised without fear of retaliation. Retaliation, intimidation, discrimination or other negative consequences against anyone who raises a concern in good faith, or participates in a review, are not acceptable.
- Anyone who believes they have experienced retaliation may report this through the same channel. Such reports will be reviewed and addressed separately where appropriate.
- The person handling a concern must treat the information confidentially, act impartially and declare any conflict of interest. If the concern involves the designated person or another member of management, it will be escalated to an appropriate alternative person or, where necessary, an external party.
Resolution and follow-up
Our aim is to reach a fair, proportionate and reasonable resolution. Depending on the circumstances, this may include corrective actions, changes to working practices, further dialogue or referral to an independent party.
The designated person responsible for grievances will record concerns in a confidential register, monitor progress, document outcomes and follow up on agreed actions. The register will record the case reference, date received, nature and status of the concern, actions taken and outcome, while protecting personal information.
The responsible person will review the register periodically and prepare an annual summary of concerns received, their status and the actions taken. Where no concerns have been received, this will be recorded as a nil return.
Butcher of Blue will use the insights gained from concerns to identify recurring issues and improve its policies and practices.
Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (JEDI)
We believe a strong company culture is built on respect, equal opportunity, and creating an environment where people feel welcome and valued.
We aim to foster an inclusive workplace where employees are treated fairly regardless of background, identity, age, gender, nationality, religion, or personal circumstances. We believe diversity in people, perspectives, and experiences strengthens both our company and the communities around us.
As part of this commitment, we support employees through ongoing development conversations, wellbeing initiatives, mentorship and workplace support, volunteer opportunities, and inclusive hiring practices. We also actively support people with a distance to the labor market, including refugee employees.
Through annual employee feedback initiatives and recurring internal discussions, we continue to evaluate and improve our workplace culture, communication, and employee experience as part of our broader JEDI Action Plan and B Corp commitments.
Human Rights Commitment
We are committed to respecting internationally recognized human rights throughout our operations and supply chain.
Our approach is guided by:
- The United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
- The Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Bill of Human Rights
- The International Labour Organization (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work
To support compliance, key suppliers are subject to regular independent audits, including unannounced factory assessments, to help verify working conditions and compliance with our supplier expectations.
Through ongoing supplier relationships, responsible sourcing practices, and internal governance processes, we aim to support fair working conditions, respect, dignity, and responsible business practices throughout our value chain.
Governance & Accountability
Responsible business starts with long term thinking, transparency, and accountability.
As part of our B Corp commitment, we regularly review our social and environmental impact, stakeholder responsibilities, and governance practices. This includes topics such as responsible sourcing, climate action, workplace wellbeing, community engagement, and ethical business conduct.
The company maintains internal policies and action plans related to Climate Action, Human Rights & Responsible Sourcing, JEDI, Responsible Marketing & Communication, and Environmental Stewardship & Circularity.
Butcher of Blue is not actively engaged in political lobbying activities and does not make political contributions. The company aims to approach industry engagement and public policy related topics in a responsible and transparent manner aligned with its broader stakeholder responsibilities and B Corp values.

by producing durable, sustainable clothing.
